Join a dynamic team developing and certifying next-generation aerospace control systems. As a
Senior Software Safety Engineer , you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of complex airborne electronic systems. You will lead and contribute to system and software safety analyses, support certification efforts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions for propulsion and control technologies. Base pay range : $61.00/hr - $74.00/hr Key Responsibilities
Conduct system and software safety analyses in accordance with industry and military standards (e.g., ARP4754, ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, DO-178C). Develop safety work products including Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), and Common Cause Analyses (CCA). Support the certification and qualification of airborne control systems under FAA, military, or other regulatory authorities. Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineers to evaluate and mitigate risk in electrical, electronic, and mechatronic control systems. Apply model-based and robust design techniques in conjunction with modern systems engineering tools and approaches. Provide technical leadership and mentoring within the safety engineering domain. Prepare, review, and maintain high-quality engineering documentation to ensure compliance and traceability. Drive continuous improvement in safety engineering processes and tools across projects. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. 5+ years of hands-on experience in product development engineering. Demonstrated experience with aerospace system safety certification. U.S. Citizenship required (due to government or export-controlled program requirements). Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of experience in product safety or system safety engineering, particularly in aerospace or defense environments. Strong foundation in software development or control systems engineering. Familiarity with relevant tools such as DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler, Fault Tree+, or Reliability Workbench. Experience working within agile development frameworks. Direct experience with gas turbine engines, propulsion systems, or electrical control systems. Working knowledge of standards including DO-254, MIL-STD-1629, AMCOM 385, or IEEE 1633-2016.
