Appointments are typically from one to three sections per term for up to three terms per year, resulting in the total compensation of approximately $8,181 per section at 17% FTE over each academic term, as of Summer 2025. Position Description The School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a pool of part-time, non-tenure track lecturers to teach online courses in the Master of Information and Cybersecurity (MICS) program. We seek exceptional instructors with professional and/or academic expertise who can lead small, highly interactive sections of about 15 graduate students in this online program. Courses in the MICS program are pre-designed and structured, allowing instructors to focus on delivering dynamic and engaging learning experiences while bringing valuable expertise to advance student outcomes. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as the program needs to evolve. The number of available positions may vary by semester based on the School's requirements. Plan and lead synchronous online sessions with active learning, facilitate discussions, group activities, and practical exercises. Facilitating Student-Centered Learning:
Provide personalized support through virtual office hours, online discussions, and analytics to identify learning needs. Designing and Refining Course Materials:
Develop and update instructional materials, assignments, and assessments; ensure alignment with program objectives and inclusive learning. Providing Constructive Feedback:
Deliver timely feedback on assignments and projects to promote growth. Maintaining Course Operations:
Use the LMS and educational technologies to manage course websites, post assignments, and communicate with students. Collaborating with Faculty Teams:
Participate in course meetings and monthly/bi-monthly faculty meetings to align practices and share teaching strategies. Advancing Online Pedagogy:
Engage in faculty development to stay current on online teaching practices and tools. Promoting Inclusion:

(required at time of application) A bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree). Additional Qualifications (required at start) Minimum 4 years professional experience in the relevant field. Minimum 2 years experience in teaching in higher education or professional development in relevant fields. Activities may include leading workshops, executive education, corporate training, or industry-recognized certification programs. Preferred Qualifications An advanced degree in Cybersecurity, Information, Information Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Political Science, Sociology, Law, Economics, or related fields. 10+ years of professional experience in relevant fields. Multiple years of demonstrated excellence in teaching college-level courses, including online instruction. Familiarity with collaborative learning techniques and student-centered instruction. Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work with diverse students, faculty, and staff. Commitment to inclusive curriculum and pedagogy in a multidisciplinary environment.
