Overview We are seeking a Data Modeling Architect with deep experience in the insurance industry (P&C, Life, or Health) to join our Data & Analytics team. This critical role supports strategic transformation initiatives by defining and implementing enterprise data modeling standards. The ideal candidate brings strong architecture, governance, and collaboration skills with the ability to drive impact across a modern, cloud-enabled data ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Define, maintain, and evolve conceptual, logical, and physical data models
Lead modeling activities across core insurance functions: policy, claims, billing, underwriting
Collaborate with data architects, modelers, engineers, and SMEs to align models with business needs
Develop and implement data strategies, modeling standards, and domain capability roadmaps
Translate complex requirements into models optimized for analytics, operations, and integrations
Create and maintain data domain diagrams, entity definitions, and relationship mappings
Ensure model compliance with enterprise architecture, security, and governance policies
Support cloud data platform strategies (e.g., Azure Data Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake)
Partner with governance teams on metadata, data lineage, and stewardship initiatives
Deliverables
Conceptual & logical models for insurance data domains
Domain definition documents and entity catalogs
Data dictionaries and business glossaries
Data lineage and system/data flow documentation
Data domain maturity assessments (e.g., DAMA DMBOK, CMMI)
Source-to-target mappings and governance platform documentation
Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
8+ years in data architecture or data modeling roles
Strong experience with insurance data environments (P&C, Life, or Health)
Knowledge of ETL/ELT, API design, and data integration patterns
Experience with tools such as Erwin, PowerDesigner, or similar
Skilled in modeling structured and semi-structured data (JSON, XML)
Familiarity with data warehouses and lake platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, AWS)
Understanding of data governance, quality, and MDM frameworks
Experience with AI/ML-enabled data architectures is a plus
Preferred
Expertise in Azure data services (Microsoft Fabric, Synapse, etc.)
Prior experience in cloud migrations and data modernization programs
Ability to define enterprise-level modeling standards and glossaries
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Collaborative and consultative approach, with a bias toward action
