Overview
PlanIT Group is seeking a Senior Data Warehousing Programmer to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate will focus on development and maintenance of applications providing ETL services in support of the customer Data Asset Services team. A working knowledge of how Ab Initio conducts data extract, transformations, and loading – especially to and from Teradata. Development of graphs, plans, PSETs and how to develop tests and debug. PDL scripting. Job Title: Senior Data Warehousing Programmer Start Date: 07/21/25 Location: Remote Duration: One year plus annual extensions All work and duties are focused on development and maintenance of applications providing ETL services in support of the customer Data Asset Services team. Tasks are performed under the direction, oversight, and prioritization of the Data Technology Services Manager and/or designated Program Managers. Responsibilities
Ab Initio ETL Coding in GDE Ab Initio Metadata Hub Lineage Ab Initio TRMC ANSI SQL and Teradata SQL extensions Teradata SQL Assistant (QueryMan) for EDS Support Teradata Utilities for EDS Support: BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, FastExport, TPump Required Skills
UNIX commands and concepts to navigate source code directories, find error logs, perform impact analysis, edit code, and version files Linux shell scripting to read and create driver scripts A working knowledge of how Ab Initio conducts data extract, transformations, and loading – especially to and from Teradata Development of graphs, plans, PSETs and how to develop tests and debug PDL scripting Additional Skills
Working knowledge of how MicroStrategy and other OLAP tools interact with Teradata Working knowledge of major data warehousing modeling techniques (Third Normal Form and Dimensional modeling) and how data modeling decisions affect ETL performance, reporting, and analysis Working knowledge of Web API development Working knowledge of storing, reading, and analyzing streaming data (e.g., Kafka, MQSeries, or similar technologies such as JMS) Working knowledge of Cloud technology — developing and architecting Working knowledge of BI metrics and/or dashboards design and performance tuning Additional Required Experience
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in software development A degree from an accredited college/university in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is preferred Able to perform all functional duties independently Experience training/mentoring less experienced personnel Experience authoring or contributing to software documentation (requirements, design, technical manuals, user manuals) Excellent communication skills Additional Provisions
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance Pass client-mandated clearance process including drug screening, criminal history check, and credit check All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years (military service excluded)
