The Director of Brand and Content is responsible for editorial excellence and consistency across WES communications and events, and for brand coherence across visual products. You will build strategic narratives that help all audiences understand WES initiatives and impact, and you will strengthen and protect the WES brand. You will manage a team of creatives, leading and developing them to operate as an integrated and innovative unit to meet the organization’s needs and advance the WES brand, mission, and impact. What You'll Do
Oversee all content creation and corporate collateral for WES, aligning with strategic and influence priorities across WES. This includes production of WES’s annual report. Develop, implement, and manage an annual internal communications strategy and plan that informs, influences, and engages the organization, fostering trust, collaboration, and alignment. Develop and manage a centralized communications knowledge and asset management framework to ensure timely information sharing and optimized use of assets. In partnership with outsourced support, lead refinement of the WES brand. Ensure all creative assets align with the brand's visual identity, tone, and strategic communications goals. Lead content strategy and editorial calendar for the Communications Division, directing creation of informative and engaging content and compelling narratives that align with priorities, resonate with audiences, drive engagement, enhance WES’s brand, and are easy to read and navigate across platforms. Lead and develop the team responsible for writing, design, copyediting, content creation, and event management so they operate as an integrated unit; source and manage external creative vendors as needed. Set policy for and manage the implementation of French translation to comply with legal requirements in Canada. Work closely with the digital and growth marketing teams to ensure messaging and visual consistency. Partner with other members of the communications leadership team to ensure alignment of requirements, context, and priorities for effective planning, management, and delivery of outputs. Provide strategic counsel on leveraging different communications approaches to realize business objectives. Advocate for strong brand governance and effective review and workflow protocols to deliver high-quality communications products and consistent messaging. Manage a team to nurture talent, provide peer-to-peer support, and mentor team members. Your Experience
The ideal candidate will have: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. 5+ years of experience in progressively senior communications roles. Proven ability to become a trusted advisor to business leaders and other influencers at all organizational levels. Experience developing and executing content creation and management strategies, ideally within a social enterprise model. Experience managing external vendors and agencies. Demonstrated ability to think broadly and use innovative approaches to achieve influence goals. Experience implementing strategies, processes, and frameworks that leverage the connective power of communications across organizations. Experience managing and developing a team of communications professionals. Deep interest in WES’s work and understanding of the external landscape. Skills
Superlative writing and listening skills with the ability to tailor communications to a wide range of audiences. Ability to challenge appropriately to drive effective outcomes. Flexibility and adaptability to explore alternative solutions while acting in the best interests of the organization. Strong leadership, relationship-building, influencing, and collaboration skills.
