Store Manager - Cuesta College at Barnes & Noble College. Barnes & Noble College is a retail partner for nearly 800 colleges and universities nationwide. Our teams interact with students, faculty, administration, alumni, and the general public to provide outstanding customer service and to sell or rent books, general merchandise, and a range of products and services for an academic community. Responsibilities
As a Store Manager you are the store’s leader and are accountable for all aspects of the store—financial results, operations, merchandising, talent acquisition, customer service, and campus relations. Build and maintain positive relationships with the campus community and Corporate Office partners to create a highly profitable bookstore for the school campus community. Directly manage and develop staff, including training, directing, and counseling the team to create exceptional customer experiences and measurable results for the store and school. Be a knowledgeable resource for all departments, model exceptional customer service, drive sales, and solve problems effectively. Expectations
Execute developed business strategies to drive sales, increase customer satisfaction, and expand store traffic. Demonstrate strong delegation, follow-up, and management skills to maintain visual merchandising standards, ensure product availability, manage inventories, and complete projects on time. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and sales through effective scheduling, talent acquisition, training, and development of store team members. Identify creative solutions, learn independently, embrace change, and act as a change agent. Analyze sales figures, interpret trends, and forecast future sales to manage controllable costs and maintain profitability. Maintain standards for quality, customer service, and safety by ensuring a safe and clean store environment and implementing loss prevention measures. Physical Demands
Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and products. Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods. Frequent lifting. Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Pay Transparency (California only)
Pay: Store Manager pay range $22.25 - $29.75/hour. Supplemental Pay: Eligible to participate in an annual bonus program. Target bonus is 15% of base salary. Payout eligibility and amount is based on meeting stated objectives updated each year. Benefits

5+ years of supervisory experience in a retail setting preferred, or a graduation from the Best Seller Program. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a relevant field preferred. Leadership experience to direct and develop a workforce of managers and sales associates. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage campus relationships and corporate initiatives while achieving sales and service goals. Familiarity with financial and customer service principles. Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
