As the Data Architecture Modeling Lead, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of data models and architecture solutions that support our business objectives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, optimize data flow, and enhance data management practices. This role is pivotal in converting complex business requirements into scalable conceptual, logical, and physical data assets on AWS-native platforms. Your Impact
Strategic Vision: Translate the enterprise modeling vision into actionable domain-level roadmaps and deliverables, ensuring alignment with business goals. Solution Influence: Influence solution designs to adopt governed, domain-oriented data products and canonical definitions, driving consistency and quality. Product Advisory: Advise product owners on modeling implications of new features and digital-transformation initiatives, ensuring seamless integration. End-to-End Development: Own the end-to-end development of conceptual, logical, and physical models for assigned domains, ensuring they meet business needs. Design Patterns: Create design patterns that support batch, near-real-time, and event-driven data flows, optimizing performance and scalability. Data Consistency: Ensure lineage, naming standards, and semantic consistency across tables, views, and streaming topics, maintaining data integrity. Physical Implementation: Convert models into physical DDL on Redshift, Iceberg, or other AWS-based storage technologies, validating performance and cost efficiency. Documentation: Document models in the central repository and keep metadata continuously current, ensuring accessibility and usability. Technological Expertise: Stay current on trends in knowledge graphs, semantic layers, and AI-driven metadata enrichment, driving innovation. Governance: Embed data-quality, privacy, and security controls into model design, partnering with governance teams to enforce standards. Mentorship: Mentor and review work for junior modelers and data engineers, fostering best practices and skill growth. Collaboration: Facilitate workshops with business analysts, product managers, and engineering teams to refine requirements and iterate rapidly on prototypes. Leadership: Provide authoritative guidance on modeling impacts during sprint planning, code reviews, and architecture boards, championing a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement. Qualifications
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or industry certification is a plus. Proven Experience: 7–10 years in data modeling or data-architecture roles within cloud-native environments; experience designing production models for BI, ML, or operational workloads at scale. Retail, consumer-products, or e-commerce experience is a bonus. Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of entity-relationship modeling, dimensional design, schema-on-read, SQL development, and performance tuning for MPP databases. Problem Solving: Ability to distill ambiguity into clear, well-structured data solutions with a balance of flexibility and governance. Effective Communicator: Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills; ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences. Leadership and Mentorship: Self-starter in fast-paced, distributed teams; mentors junior team members and fosters best practices.
