AssuranceAmerica is seeking an experienced Manager / Architect of Data Warehouse Engineering to join our growing ranks as we transform how technology impacts the insurance business. You will work with a small team of experienced IT professionals and interface directly with stakeholders to understand challenges and develop solutions. Your daily contributions will have direct, positive impacts on our employees, agents, and customers. You will play a pivotal role in delivering scalable, high-performing data solutions that empower Product, Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, Finance/Accounting, Sales and other business functions with reliable data sources. Your leadership will help drive modernization efforts, leveraging cloud technologies to enhance data-driven decision-making in a highly regulated, data-intensive industry.

Each day at AssuranceAmerica is different, but as Data Warehouse Architect/Manager in IT you will:

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and optimization of data warehouse solutions that support core P&C insurance functions such as Product, Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, Customer Service, Finance/Accounting, Sales, regulatory reporting, and customer analytics.

Manage and mentor a team of data warehouse engineers, fostering continuous improvement, technical excellence, and collaboration.

Architect robust, secure, and scalable data pipelines and models using tools/platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Azure Synapse, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, and Power BI.

Partner with departmental teams to understand data requirements and translate them into effective, actionable data solutions.

Oversee ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from third-party data sources.

Drive adoption of modern data architecture (cloud, data lakehouse, real-time data integration) to improve agility and performance.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., state reporting, NAIC guidelines, data privacy laws) in all data warehouse processes.

Establish and maintain documentation, metadata management, data quality, and governance frameworks.

Evaluate emerging tools and technologies to continually improve data warehousing capabilities.

Manage project delivery timelines, budgets, and resource planning across multiple concurrent initiatives.

Required

Minimum 10 years of experience in data warehouse engineering, including experience as an Architect, with a track record of delivering solutions in data-intensive industries (insurance strongly preferred).

Minimum 5 years of experience managing data warehouse engineering teams.

Proven expertise with Microsoft cloud / data technologies, including:

Azure SQL Database / SQL Server / Azure Managed Instance

Azure Data Factory

SSIS, SSRS, SSAS

Power BI

Demonstrated experience with enterprise-scale data modeling, ETL/ELT design, performance tuning, and data governance.

Experience working with structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Ability to balance technical depth with strategic leadership to align data solutions with business goals.

Preferred

Prior experience delivering data solutions for underwriting, claims analytics, actuarial modeling, or regulatory reporting in a P&C insurance environment.

Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview) and data privacy regulations relevant to insurance data.

Industry certifications in Microsoft Azure or related technologies.

Exposure to big data and advanced analytics technologies (e.g., Databricks, Spark) within the Microsoft stack. Experience with Microsoft Fabric.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

May be required to work on-call or long hours in case of network malfunction.
