Quality Assurance Automation Engineer - Hybrid Opportunity (Based in West Des Moines, IA). Join to apply for this role at The Mutual Group. The QA Automation Engineer will focus on the quality, performance, and reliability of software solutions for insurance platforms and shared services applications that support policy administration, underwriting, billing, and claims processing. Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable automated test scripts across web UI, APIs, and backend components using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, RestAssured, etc. Develop and maintain modular, data-driven, and reusable test automation frameworks supporting regression, smoke, and end-to-end testing in CI/CD environments. Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI to enable fast feedback and zero-touch deployments. Implement test data automation and service virtualization to enable robust testing in distributed microservices environments. Perform API testing and contract validation using tools like Postman, Swagger, ReadyAPI, or Karate. Define and execute performance, scalability, and load testing using JMeter, Gatling, or k6 where applicable. Contribute to observability of test executions using test reporting and logging platforms (e.g., Allure, Extent Reports, Grafana). Identify, log, and triage defects in systems like Jira, and collaborate with development teams on root cause analysis and resolution. Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies to ensure testing aligns with the Definition of Done. Champion automation best practices and contribute to test governance, quality metrics, and process improvement. Ensure testing practices meet internal security, privacy, and regulatory standards (e.g., PCI, SOC 2, HIPAA where applicable). Stay current with the latest QA automation tools, technologies, and frameworks, and proactively introduce innovation. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., ISTQB Advanced, Selenium CP-SAT, Postman API Certification, Agile Tester, AWS DevOps Engineer) are a plus. 7+ years of experience in test automation or software QA with strong understanding of testing principles and SDLC. Demonstrated experience with: Web UI Automation (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) API Testing (Postman, Ready, REST-assured, Karate) CI/CD Integration (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) Version Control Systems (Git, Bitbucket) Infrastructure-as-Code awareness (Terraform basics in testing environments) Containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes exposure) Monitoring and log analysis tools for testing observability (e.g., Kibana, Datadog, Splunk) Experience with test case management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr) and defect tracking systems (e.g., Jira). Familiarity with DevOps, modular architecture, and Agile software development practices. Prior experience in Property & Casualty Insurance, including multi-product insurance platforms across personal and commercial lines, is strongly preferred. Benefits
