Summary of responsibility:

Reporting to the Assistant Materials Manager, the Materials Planner is responsible for monitoring production schedules and supplier schedules utilizing the MRP system to ensure that sufficient materials are present within SHSS standard inventory levels, encouraging continuous improvement wherever possible in a cost-effective manner, and exceeding the expectations of the Customer and Magna International Inc. Ensuring supplies, materials and timely shipment of finished goods to customers. Supervising and coaching employees to achieve goals and maintain standards of safety, customer service, productivity and good housekeeping within Spring Hill Seating Systems. Job Duties: Plan inbound raw materials to support production schedules as received by the customer via EDI Releases (830/862). Analyze incoming releases from the customer and use internal ERP/MRP system to generate releases for the Tier 2 supply base; manually edit releases as required. Send daily releases to the supply base after running MRP and ensure transportation for each shipment is scheduled with the Logistics Provider. Ensure materials departmental objectives align with Magna Employee Charter and Magna Corporate Constitution. Schedule and release materials at SHSS; ensure suppliers ship as required to Spring Hill Supplier Material Standards; enforce chargeback policy. Optimize logistics, ensure proper packaging, and manage inventory levels to SHSS satisfaction. Oversee production schedules and ensure daily manufacturing schedules are attained to satisfy customer expectations. Schedule returnable containers to be returned to the supply base via return trucks so Tier 2 suppliers have containers for finished goods. Manage Engineering Changes for parts in the Planner's deck; ensure minimal obsolescence and correct labeling of new incoming material. Support plant during production hours (all active shifts) via company-provided cellular phone. Monitor supplier delivery performance to attain SHSS goals and objectives. Perform special projects in support of the organizations business objectives. Support engineering change control and ECN tasks associated with engineering changes. Other projects and duties as assigned. Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities

Ensure all safety and non-safety plant rules and regulations are followed. Ensure adherence to established quality and housekeeping standards. Respond immediately to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues. Take appropriate corrective action when substandard performance is observed. Minimum Qualifications

Post-secondary education in materials management or equivalent experience. Ideally 5+ years of progressive experience in a materials/manufacturing environment. Excellent knowledge of customer shipping requirements, inventory controls, production scheduling, and plant raw materials in a manufacturing environment; strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills. Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft and other manufacturing software. Good attention to detail and ability to manage multiple demands and deadlines; experience supporting production planning programs. APICS certification would be an asset.
