Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates understanding of standard concepts, practices and procedures within construction field. Interprets designs and drawings for crafts installing materials and qualifications. Understands necessary control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials or equipment. Reviews submittals against specifications; checks mock-ups, shop drawings, and specifications. Understands subcontractor job specifications and scope of work; coordinates with subcontractors and suppliers. Maintains subcontractor non-compliance records and coordinates with QA/QC. Verifies that completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings and specifications. Researches and resolves drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors; proposes solutions to quality control issues. Creates and processes RFI’s; prepares field design change requisitions and as-built drawings as required. Demonstrates schedule understanding in coordination with construction logistics and sequencing. Prepares and disseminates documentation such as status reports, punch lists, sketches, and material calculations to supervision. Understands the company quality control plan and documents quality control issues with weekly photos. Reviews viability of design, conducts value engineering as required; aware of productivity targets. Supports environmental management and safety efforts; helps create a safe work site and identifies job hazards. Participates in safety inspections; ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and safety programs. Participates in job walks and documents findings; understands PCO process and basic change orders. Performs quantity takeoffs; understands project performance impacts on insurance and bonds. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of discipline, construction technology, design, and applicable codes and standards. Performs other duties as assigned; prioritizes and manages multiple projects; communicates effectively with all levels of personnel. Demonstrates dependability, diligence, and thoroughness; exercises creativity and resourcefulness in compressed timeframes. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or four years’ experience in construction management. Minimum five (5) years of experience as an entry-level Project Engineer on field projects. Experience with large commercial projects; healthcare, higher education, corporate campuses, justice, science & technology is desired. Ability to communicate well with multiple levels of personnel; manage multiple demands; work well at project sites. Knowledge of plan reading; intermediate knowledge of Windows (Excel, Word, Outlook); AutoCAD; scheduling, estimating, and cost software.
