Overview

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Flight Deck Design is seeking an engaged and motivated Mid-Level (Level 3) or Senior (Level 4) Flight Deck Design Electronics Engineer to join a team of engineers focused on the next generation Flight Deck Electronics for our Everett, WA and/or Renton, WA locations. The Flight Deck Design team defines the cockpit environment for all Boeing Commercial aircraft and integrates with Flight Crew Ops, Pilots and customers to deliver best in class Flight Decks that improve safety and address Flight Crew needs. The role involves applying technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to quality from initial design development, through test and certification, to delivery, and resolving production and in-service fleet issues. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will use leadership, creativity and problem-solving skills to address a diverse range of engineering issues and fully integrate final design solutions. Engineers in this position are expected to independently work assignments, collaborate with teammates, and receive tasking from a lead engineer.

Responsibilities

Lead and document component and detail design efforts, complex mechanical and electrical system requirements using analytical and technical skills, and thorough documentation within schedule and cost constraints; create design solutions using model-based engineering software and numerical analysis. Lead cross-functional technical coordination with internal and external Boeing groups and interfacing teams, including manufacturing, Crew Ops, airplane safety, Supply Chain Management, BCA Systems Software, Suppliers, Airline Customers, and Regulatory Agencies. Identify problems, perform root cause corrective analysis, and implement corrective actions. Provide expeditious support to the Factory and Flight Line to resolve emergent issues. Develop Interface Control Documents (ICD) and Specification Control Documents/Drawings (SCD). Develop requirements and design considerations that support program objectives and data reliability and integrity; perform fault trees analysis (FTA) and System Safety Analysis (SSA). Translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs, and interface specifications. Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements. Resolve issues and provide support for fielded hardware and software over the product lifecycle. Research technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

Design Responsibilities

Control Panels, Light plates, Switches, Annunciators, Circuit Breakers, Indicators and Equipment. Flight Deck Area and Task Lighting. Flight Deck Access System.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited program. 5+ years of experience with excellent verbal and written communication skills in a multi-skill operations environment. 5+ years of experience managing equipment throughout the full life cycle of product development (requirements development/validation, Proposals (RFP/RFQ), SOW/ SCD, Gate Reviews, Qualification Testing (DO-160), FAA Certification compliance, and delivery). Working knowledge of aviation-related system safety analysis methods (System Safety Risk Assessments, FTA, FHA, SAR). Working knowledge of complex circuit design. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience): Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace/Systems Engineering Degree. Experience with CATIA. Experience with commercial airplane certification and/or FAA certification processes. Ability to integrate hardware and software components into a functional system.
