Job Summary
The Senior Trial Attorney independently manages and litigates moderately complex civil cases from initiation through dismissal, settlement, or trial. This role involves working closely with adjusters and clients to achieve efficient, cost-effective resolutions and serving as a mentor to developing attorneys.
Responsibilities
Meet with clients and claims professionals to resolve cases efficiently and cost-effectively.
Conduct pre-trials, mediations, arbitrations, and other necessary legal proceedings.
Independently conduct trials as needed.
Advise claim professionals on legal file evaluations.
Provide legal advice to clients and claims professionals as required.
Negotiate settlements within given parameters.
Participate in round table discussions.
Required Experience
Licensed to practice law in Texas.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR.
Experience in a team environment with attorneys, adjusters, claims professionals, and support staff.
Computer literacy, including MS Word, Lexis / Westlaw, and daily email / calendar management.
Nice-to-Have Experience
Insurance defense jury trial experience.
Required Skills
Advocacy — Strong ability to defend or plead in moderately complex cases.
Negotiation Skills — Demonstrated influence on claim outcomes through effective techniques.
Communication — Skilled at translating legal concepts into layman’s terms.
