Substance Use Intake Counselor Hybrid / Remote

Position overview A substance use counselor assists patients through medically assisted programs and provides techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts group and individual sessions to support crisis management and coping strategies, evaluates patient progress during therapy, and collaborates with doctors, nurses, and therapists to achieve the best treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities
Conduct initial individual assessments and evaluations for service eligibility
Facilitate and review each patient’s initial treatment plan
Complete bio-psychosocial assessments
Provide individual and group counseling; deliver services at scheduled intervals; coordinate all treatment services
Involve families and significant others in the patient’s recovery when possible
Respond to patient grievances and complaints as needed
Develop aftercare and discharge plans
Perform other related duties as determined by the supervisor
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 1 year of individual counseling experience
Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science with a minimum of 1 year of individual counseling experience
Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma with a current certification and 1 year of supervision. Certifications include CAC (Certified Addiction Counselor), CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor), or CADC II
Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is a plus
Positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward patients
Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
Salary Salary ranges from $25.24 to $28.13 per hour. The final salary will be determined based on factors including experience, education, specialty, and training.
