Senior Civil/Structural Engineer
with experience focused on
Substation and Transmission & Distribution
projects to support our growing Energy Business Line. AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices located in multiple locations across the United States. Responsibilities
Serves as lead engineer and Engineering of Record on small to mid-size projects Prepare overhead line design using PLS-CADD Transmission line structural design using PLS-Tower and/or PLS-Pole Substation support structures and foundation design Environmental Load Development for transmission and distribution assets (wind, ice, seismic, etc.) Comprehensive understanding within civil/structural engineering and strong understanding of other engineering disciplines Provide mentorship for other civil/structural engineers; versed with preparation and execution of civil/structural project scope Fully versed with codes, permits and software applications related to civil/structural engineering for substation and transmission & distribution projects Review and check work sequences, content and methods used to generate specifications for calculations; oversee approval, revision, retention and storage of calculations Oversee review and checking of construction and vendor drawings; review interdisciplinary vendor documents Assist with developing task and effort estimates for proposal support Assist with planning and scheduling engineering tasks within the civil/structural discipline Maintain positive working relationships with peers Perform quality control reviews of work developed by others Occasional travel to other AECOM locations and client sites Participate in field walks, create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders, etc. as necessary Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education Professional Engineering license (P.E.) Experience must include structural design for electrical substation and/or transmission and distribution Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant transmission and distribution experience with at least three years as project technical lead and/or engineer of record Progressive professional experience in modeling, analysis and design of steel structures and foundations Proficiency in PLS-CADD packages (PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, PLS-Tower, etc.) Experience with structural analysis software (e.g. StaadPRO, MFAD, L-Pile, SAP2000) Professional Engineering license in Civil or Structural Engineering in California Experience with California Electric Utilities Proficient in industry codes and standards (NESC, G.O.95, ASCE 113, ASCE 10, ASCE 48, IEEE 605, IEEE 693, AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC, ACI 318, RUS, ASCE design guidelines) Self-motivated with effective written and verbal communication skills Experience working with remote teams Experience on full EPC, Design/Build projects from start to finish; Owner’s Engineering experience Experience with retrofit or brownfield projects; exposure to supporting renewable generation projects Additional Information
