Job Overview

Under the direction of senior management, this position will be primarily responsible for managing the corporate ASC 740 process for all entities within the Topgolf Callaway Brands organization. In addition, the position will provide a technical role for tax compliance and accounting projects. Position will report directly to the Sr. Director of Global Tax in Carlsbad and will have one direct report. The incumbent is also responsible for evaluating, recommending and implementing process improvements ensuring that consistent accounting practices are applied worldwide and company objectives are met.

Roles And Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of the income tax reporting under ASC 740 including FIN 48 and preparation of Callaway audited financial statements

Preparation and review of relevant financial statement audit documentation

Preparation and review of tax planning scenarios and its related financial statement impacts

Assistance with income tax projects providing both project management support and technical review support

Work with accounting to ensure accounting controls are adequately designed and completed

Work with international tax team to ensure foreign statutory reporting is accurately completed

Assist with any tax audits supported by the tax department

Conduct research on tax matters managed by the tax department, whether for compliance needs or support of other functions

Work with IT as needed to develop solutions designed to improve accuracy and timeliness of reporting by the tax department

Assist the tax department with the completion of all tax compliance needs as necessary

Lead staff in organizing and executing on all responsibilities for the role

Technical Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accounting principles under ASC 740

Strong knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles

Familiarity with tax provision software solutions, Longview Tax Provision preferred

Strong experience researching and applying US income tax concepts to tax provision and tax return preparation

Strong experience with the US compliance function

Familiarity with law changes as they relate to the TCJA enacted in 2017 and OBBBA enacted in 2025

Strong experience communicating and working with financial statement auditors

Ability to prioritize and multi-task in fast paced environment; ability to balance significant projects and issues

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong project management skills

Self-motivated and takes initiative

Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels of the organization

Able to effectively work as a part of a team toward meeting company goals

Intermediate knowledge of MS Word and MS Power Point; advanced knowledge of MS Excel

Strong systems experience (SAP ECC and/or S4 preferred)

Education And Experience

Candidates must have recent experience being an active lead on ASC 740 reporting, whether as a consultant or for public or private companies

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field required

Minimum 7 years of related professional experience in a tax function, including at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role of increasing responsibility over financial tax accounting reporting

Experience working in a public company or as a public company external auditor

Accounting manager and/or public accounting experience preferred

Experience with major ERP systems (such as Oracle or SAP) is preferred but not required

Some experience with tax provision software solutions (such as OneSource or Longview) required

In-house reporting and compliance experience desired

Salary range: 152,500.00 - 190,650.00 - 228,800.00 USD Annual
