Job Description : The Wholesale Banking Finance Group is responsible for developing and delivering financial strategy, information, and management support within TD Securities (TDS). A key function within the department is the oversight and governance related to maintaining and monitoring sound internal controls over financial reporting, disclosure and other financial and operational processes in support of TD Securities' business objectives. To ensure the accuracy, valuation, and reporting of financial instruments for financial accounting purposes, the successful candidate will work with different stakeholders to ensure that business lines adhere to policies and procedures, and controls are effective. Within Controller & Chief Accountants in Finance, the Product Control Team supports TD Securities and is responsible for providing overall end-to-end accountability for the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of optimized processes and controls for financial reporting. Product Control is the primary point of contact on P&L, Balance Sheet, Attribution, and Independent Pricing Verification & Valuation Adjustments reporting and initiatives, exercising an in depth understanding of the products and risks of the Business. The Product Control team provides controllership, reporting, analysis, investigation, and commentary for a wide range of TD Securities business lines including Mergers & Acquisitions, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, and more. This role will cover lending and financing solutions including bridge and acquisition financing, syndicated and leveraged finance; Corporate facilities, including operating and revolving lines of credit, term loans and commercial paper backup facilities. As a Senior Manager covering CIB Credit in the Product Control Team, you will: Oversee and/or manage specialized team supporting various product control functions for the TD Securities business. Ensure strong financial controls and efficient processes around the P&L, Attribution, Balance Sheet, and Independent Pricing Verification and Valuation Adjustment processes for TD Securities. Lead a small, high performing team to achieve business and operational objectives, maintain effective practices and deliver quality service consistent with TDS business objectives. Grow team expertise to align with business/enterprise demand and direction; assess team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered. Review/approve the work of others as it relates to area of specialized support and maintain appropriate level of oversight as per executive management direction. Act as a business product control function and the financial guardian of the TDS lending and financing activities. Ensure overall Product Control function conducts independent validation of the value of the loan portfolios / books. Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts. Oversee research, development and implementation of new processes, technologies, or operating models. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners for the purposes of delivering optimal client service. Act as subject matter expert and primary escalation point for own area and provide guidance / advice and recommendations to support dealings with internal / external partners. Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk transactions / activities as necessary. Work with the businesses and the new business product groups to evaluate and integrate new products and businesses into our financial environment and build in appropriate controls to ensure integrity for financial records. Provision reliable and meaningful financial information to business managers, external stakeholders, and other relevant internal stakeholders. Work very closely with the desk, trade support, syndicate accounting, technology, financial control, and other infrastructure areas to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results. Proactively partner with and support the business to develop business, financial, operational, and/or strategy for the organization. Ensure alignment between business and enterprise financial goals / thresholds. Job Requirements Extensive experience in controllership for credit products (origination, not secondary), specifically loans, is a requirement. In-depth knowledge and experience working with loan accounting (IFRS and US GAAP), and control practices. Previous people management experience, proven leadership skills and a passion for coaching and development. Keeping abreast of emerging issues, industry trends, new technologies and evolving regulatory requirements to proactively assess potential impact. Proven ability to build strong working relationships with business partners, stakeholders, and colleagues at all levels of the organization. Strong understanding of credit/loan markets and regulatory environment. Additional Information Pursuit or completion of professional accreditation (CPA/CFA/MBA) is an asset. Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics (Engineering, Physics, Computer Science) or other quantitative disciplines Lending and financing solutions expertise, finance, accounting 10+ years related experience.
