Grainger is hiring a Senior Analyst, Supply Chain Optimization and Advanced Analytics. This role focuses on analytics-based decisions to optimize inventory placement across the supply chain. You will report to the Sr Manager, Supply Chain Optimization & Advanced Analytics. Position Details
Grainger's inventory planning team manages over 10 million SKUs and $2 billion in inventory across 500 DCs and branches in North America. The anticipated base pay range is $85,300.00 to $142,200.00 per year. Work location: Remote. Responsibilities
Obtain, manipulate, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured data from diverse sources (Snowflake, S3). Work with data using R, Python, Julia, or optimization tools such as Gurobi. Deploy models and solutions using Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Apache Airflow. Build & validate advanced analytical and statistical models, including forecasting, optimization, and simulation (e.g., linear programming, integer programming). Leverage analytics tools to identify problems and implement solutions. Quantify business impacts and communicate actionable recommendations with business partners to drive informed decisions. Build a model predicting the impact of promotions on demand and recommend inventory purchase quantities to maintain service levels during promotions. Forecast supplier purchase order lead times with prediction intervals. Create an optimization model that prioritizes purchases from suppliers within truckload constraints and maximizes fulfillable orders. You Will
Collaborate with teams to translate business questions into analytical approaches. Analyze data and build models to support decision making. Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders to drive strategic actions. You Have
Graduate degree (MS or equivalent) in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or related quantitative field preferred. 2-3 years of analytics experience with tools such as R, Python, SQL and data visualization software (Tableau, PowerBI). Fluency in speaking Japanese required. Knowledge of supply chain, forecasting, and optimization preferred. Experience articulating ambiguous business questions and using quantitative modeling to derive solutions. Experience processing and presenting large data sets (millions to billions of rows). Benefits
