Overview
We’re hiring a
Financial Controller
to lead the financial reporting, integration, and operational oversight of a fast-growing engineering services platform. This is a high-impact leadership role ideal for a hands-on finance professional with strong experience in M&A, multi-entity consolidations, and private equity environments. Backed by an operationally focused private equity sponsor, this platform is scaling rapidly through acquisitions and organic growth. The Controller will play a critical role in establishing financial controls, leading integrations, and building scalable infrastructure from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financials across multiple entities in accordance with GAAP.
M&A Integration: Lead post-acquisition financial integrations including ERP transitions, accounting standards alignment, and consolidation activities.
KPI & Performance Reporting: Develop and deliver weekly KPI dashboards for operational leaders and investors.
Cash Flow & Forecasting: Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and forecasting across the platform.
Audit & Compliance: Serve as the primary contact for audits and ensure compliance with all regulatory and tax reporting requirements.
ERP & Systems Oversight: Manage ERP data workflows and financial system functionality, optimizing for automation and accuracy.
Budgeting & Analysis: Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, perform variance analysis, and deliver actionable insights to executive leadership.
Cost Management: Identify and recommend cost-saving initiatives across the organization.
Lender & Investor Relations: Coordinate financial reporting and covenant compliance with financial institutions and equity sponsors.
Payroll & Regional Finance Oversight: Supervise payroll functions and coordinate with entity-level bookkeepers and finance managers to standardize practices.
Special Projects: Support M&A diligence, working capital reviews, asset valuation, and financial modeling for new transactions.
Qualifications
Must have a minimum of 5 acquisition integrations in Accounting
CPA designation strongly preferred
5+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in M&A-driven or roll-up environments
Expertise in GAAP, multi-entity consolidations, and project-based or construction accounting (PoC experience highly desirable)
Proven success in private equity-backed or high-growth businesses
Strong analytical, organizational, and systems implementation skills
ERP and accounting software proficiency (QuickBooks, Microsoft Office; Sage a plus)
Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach to process-building and problem-solving
Strong interpersonal and communication skills across internal and external stakeholders
Willingness to travel to portfolio companies as needed
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $120,000 – $180,000, based on experience
Performance-based bonus opportunities

Reporting This role reports directly to the private equity sponsor’s leadership team and will be the first corporate-level financial hire for the platform.
Location Location: Preferred in Boston or Chicago; remote considered for candidates on the East Coast or Midwest
