In this role, you will provide community-based support and education to parents and caregivers of children with special needs and/or behavioral health needs in Malden and the surrounding areas. The ideal candidate is a parent, guardian, or caregiver of a youth with special needs and/or behavioral health needs, who uses their lived experience navigating child and family service systems to support and educate families currently in need. Responsibilities
Provide community-based support and education to parents/caregivers of children with special needs and/or behavioral health needs. Work with the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHC) staff, EEC program leadership and educators and families in developing measurable Family Partner goals in the Individualized Service Delivery Plan. Assist parents/caregivers in meeting the needs of the child through educating, supporting, coaching, modeling and guiding. Teach parents/caregivers how to connect to community resources and communicate with providers advocating for services and resources to meet a child’s needs. Assist the team with developing measurable Family Partner goals in IEPs, and engaging parents/caregivers in activities to address those goals. Qualifications
High School diploma/GED with two (2) years of experience working with children and youth or Associates/Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with one (1) or more years of experience working with children and youth Must be a parent, guardian or caregiver of a youth with special needs, and/or behavioral health needs. Experience in navigating children and families within the education system. Must have the ability to communicate with other parents in a supportive and non-judgmental manner regarding their needs. Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work and for providing services in the community Bilingual and bicultural skills are a plus. Schedule
Monday-Friday, flexible hours between 8am and 5pm. Compensation
Hourly Rate: $21.63 USD Application
