Role description: Arcadis is currently searching for an entry-level Geologist to join our Resilience Environment team in San Francisco, CA or Concord, CA. This position is slated to start in Summer 2026. Candidates who are graduating in May 2026 are encouraged to apply. The role supports hybrid, remote, or in-office environments with a focus on mentorship and professional growth within a Sacramento, CA team region. Role accountabilities: Assist Project Managers (PMs) and Task Managers (TMs) in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. Conduct fieldwork training to oversee drilling for soil sampling and groundwater well installation, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, operation and maintenance of remediation systems, and vapor intrusion/soil gas surveys, while maintaining a strong health and safety focus. Prepare subcontracts and oversee subcontractor work. Write and prepare technical reports, work plans, letters, and memoranda. Office tasks may include data compilation and interpretation, cost estimates, health & safety plan preparation, report writing, regulatory file reviews, proposal writing, project strategy development, scheduling and budgeting, and subcontract establishment. Field work will require regional business travel for up to 1-2 days per week on average; occasional travel within the U.S. for up to two weeks at a time several times per year. Qualifications & Experience: Required Qualifications Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Engineering, or a closely related field (environmental, biological, physical science). Preferred Qualifications Master of Science degree in Geology, Engineering, or a closely related field. Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training. Skills and attributes: strong written and oral communication, self-motivation, independent thinking, and ability to work effectively in teams and remotely. Adaptable, creative problem solver who can collaborate as part of a team. Travel and compensation: travel for field work is estimated up to 75% in the first two years and reduces with career growth; by the third year, travel is typically around 50%. Travel expenses are reimbursable. Salary range and benefits details are provided by Arcadis and vary by experience, education, budget, and location.
