The Role

The Chief of Schools (formerly Head of Schools) is one of three members of Noble’s Senior Executive Leadership Team (SELT), alongside the CEO and the President. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a peer to the President, the Chief of Schools is Noble’s executive leader for our 17 schools. This role is responsible for setting the vision and strategy for the Education Team and for overseeing all education-focused functions, including academics, school culture, principal success, student success, college readiness and persistence, and the conditions necessary for a safe, predictable, and positive experience for our 12,000 students. In partnership with the CEO and President, the Chief of Schools co-leads the execution of Noble’s three-year strategic plan, ensuring all 17 campuses deliver on our mission at scale. Key Responsibilities

Lead Noble’s Education Team - a cross-functional staff of ~50 central office staff to ensure campus leaders are fully positioned to deliver on Noble’s six commitments. Align the work of the Education Team with Noble’s three-year strategic plan, driving the execution of key performance goals, relentlessly monitoring progress, interrogating results, and making data-driven adjustments to keep Noble on course and on pace to achieve our ambitious strategic objectives. Uphold Noble’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion by ensuring these principles are integrated into decision-making, policies, and practices in ways that best serve our diverse community of students and staff. Proactively assess and strengthen school culture and safety across all campuses, identifying areas of vulnerability and implementing strategies to ensure safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments. Directly manage Noble’s: Chief Education Officer - Academics, School Culture, and Student Support & Belonging Chief Schools Officer - Principal Success, including principal-facing professional development Chief College Officer - College Counseling, Summer of a Lifetime, College Analytics & Insights, and College & Career Strategic Partnerships Campus Accountability Officer - Audits each campus 18 times per school year to ensure campus staff are operating with the clarity, consistency and connection Noble students deserve. Recruit, hire, and support Noble’s 17 campus principals, ensuring they have the clarity, guidance, resources, and development necessary to achieve exceptional student outcomes, while demonstrating strong talent development skills - the ability to coach, evaluate, and build the capacity of principals, academic leaders, and teacher-leaders. Partner with the CEO and President to ensure organizational excellence across all campuses and departments, aligning academic and operational priorities to drive excellent Noble-wide outcomes. Represent Noble with external stakeholders - including board members, Chicago Public Schools leadership, policymakers, donors, and community leaders - by leveraging exceptional communication, relationship-building, and strategic influence skills to advance the mission and strengthen strategic partnerships. Serve as a primary thought leader in academics, student outcomes, and school leadership - shaping major decisions and influencing the direction of Noble at the highest level. Oversee Noble’s academic calendar, student handbook, and all related policies, ensuring they are clear, consistent, equitable, and implemented with fidelity across Noble. Data-driven decision-making - skill in analyzing and applying achievement, attendance, and engagement data to identify trends, inform strategy, and drive continuous improvement. The ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and build trust with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders including: Noble leaders, students, staff, families, government officials, board members, community members, and donors. The capacity to sustain excellence, and drive strategic innovation, while leading large, complex functions, navigating challenges with clarity, urgency, and decisiveness. Exceptional communication skills - able to write with clarity and impact, speak persuasively to large groups, and present effectively to diverse audiences, from students and staff to board members and external partners. Minimum Candidate Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; strong preference for an advanced degree in education, organizational leadership, or a related field. At least four years of senior leadership in the education sector, including substantial experience in a 6-12 school setting. Proven record of leading large, complex teams to achieve ambitious goals in a multi-site organization. Compensation

Noble strives to be among the best places to work in education, and our employee benefits are thoughtfully designed to support us in this ambition. Compensation is commensurate with experience for this role with an expected salary for this position ranging from $230,000 to $250,000 annually. Application Timeline & Process
