Overview

The Gunter Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk - Director Banquets is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the Banquets Department with a focus on cost control and exceptional guest service. The Director Banquets works closely with the Banquets Manager in hiring, training, coaching, disciplining and reviewing banquet staff. Note: Management-level associates are expected to work as much of each workday as necessary to complete job responsibilities; overtime may apply for OEM associates. Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required with at least 3 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field. Supervisory experience required. Proficient in Windows operating systems. Ability to convey information and ideas clearly. Ability to evaluate and select among alternate courses of action quickly and accurately. Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations and maintain composure under pressure. Effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary. Ability to assimilate complex information from disparate sources and adjust to meet constraints. Effective listening to understand and clarify concerns of co-workers and guests. Ability to work with and understand financial information and basic arithmetic functions. Job Responsibilities

Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards, per hotel scheduling needs. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming per brand standards. Comply with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations. Comply with applicable certification requirements (Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR & First Aid). Assist in setup, service and breakdown of banquet functions; coordinate all banquet related food and beverage requirements with relevant departments. Recruit, hire, train and evaluate all Banquet personnel with assistance from the Food & Beverage Manager. Maintain up-to-date details on banquet functions and communicate to supervisors. Lead ongoing training of captains/hourly employees to maintain service standards and guest service scores. Respond to guest requests as needed. Prepare banquet checks, obtain guest signatures and inform clients of payment procedures at function completion. Notify the Food & Beverage Manager of materials and equipment that require ordering or replacement. Requisition liquor and other supplies for banquet bars. Ensure safety, sanitation, and cleanliness of service areas; participate in loss prevention programs among service employees. Attend Weekly Food & Beverage Meeting to ensure proper communication between departments; participate in required M.O.D. coverage and daily BEO meetings. Maintain professional working relationships and open communication with managers, employees and other departments. Assist Food & Beverage Manager and Catering Manager with special promotions or changes. Manage control and maintenance of all service equipment; write service requests as necessary. Familiar with the operation of the P.O.S. system; correct hazards and notify the General Manager. Submit orders for supplies and maintain inventory levels; handle items for “Lost and Found” per standards. Other duties as requested by the General Manager. Benefits
