Assistant Attorney General - Revenue & Regulatory. The Revenue & Regulatory Law Section seeks an attorney to join its dynamic and collaborative legal team. This position involves litigating and providing general counsel services in challenging areas of law that frequently present novel legal questions. The selected attorney will handle a diverse caseload of significant administrative, licensure, and disciplinary actions, primarily for the Department of Regulatory Agencies, as well as for various independent judicial commissions, boards, and ombudsmen. The attorney will represent clients before the Office of Administrative Courts and other venues in defending agency determinations. The role also includes serving as general counsel for various clients, guiding clients in rulemaking, responding to legal questions from the program, and advising on the legal impact of legislation. This position offers opportunities to build experience before the Office of Administrative Courts, Colorado district courts, and in appellate representation. The Revenue & Regulatory Law (R&R) section is comprised of 10 units and represents state regulatory agencies, including the Department of Regulatory Agencies, the Department of Local Affairs, the Department of Revenue, and the Department of Agriculture. R&R is the largest section in the Department of Law, with over 110 team members tackling a diverse array of legal challenges for nearly 100 state agencies, boards, commissions, divisions, and ombudsmen. The work of the R&R section is critical to ensuring licensees provide fair services to Coloradans and to protecting consumers through oversight of these industries and professions to safeguard public health and safety. What you will do

The selected attorney will primarily represent DORA divisions, boards, and commissions, and independent judicial boards, commissions, and ombudsmen before the Office of Administrative Courts and other venues in defending agency determinations. The attorney may also assist on other matters as assigned, including litigation and general counsel matters. This is a team-oriented role suited for someone eager to work in a multidisciplinary group and who enjoys both litigation and providing general counsel advice. What we are looking for

Qualified applicants must be admitted to the Colorado Bar or be clearly eligible to waive into the Colorado Bar and be in good standing at the time of application. Candidates eligible to waive into the Colorado Bar must submit proof of their completed application and application for Practice Pending Admission before the first day of employment.
