Senior Cloud Performance Engineer (Hybrid - San Diego, CA or Acton, MA)

Position Overview
Insulet Corporation, maker of Omnipod, is the leader in tubeless insulin pumps. We are looking for performance engineers to build and scale our next generation of products. This is a fast-paced environment working on challenging problems. Your work will impact the lives of people living with diabetes! As a Sr Cloud Performance Engineer, you will work with a team of skilled, cross-functional engineers building and scaling services that support our medical devices, mobile applications, partner integrations, and data analytics. You will partner with teams, both local and abroad, to build world class medical device software. Candidates should have experience developing production-quality software.
Responsibilities
Ensure Cloud solutions meet defined SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs
Build Cloud performance harnesses using tools such as JMeter, Locust, Python, and Kubernetes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable, cost-effective solutions
Analyze performance findings and provide recommendations to optimize Cloud configurations
Document and report performance findings to development team and stakeholders
Participate in capacity planning and forecasting activities to ensure resources support Insulet growth and peak loads
Work closely with Site Reliability Engineering to refine SLIs and build monitoring capabilities
Create dashboards using monitoring services such as AWS CloudWatch and DataDog
Automate performance activities in Bamboo/Jenkins CI/CD builds
Python scripting, as necessary, to support performance activities
Comply with Insulet quality practices for the design and maintenance of medical products
Education And Experience
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in software engineering and 7+ years of relevant work experience or combination of Master's degree in appropriate field of study and 5+ years of relevant work experience
Experience planning and designing performance tests for load, stress, spikes, and scalability
Experience developing performance testing scripts for AWS or Cloud
Fluent with Python
Additional Qualifications
Experience developing with performance testing tools such as JMeter or Locust
Experience with message delivery systems such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
Experience with MongoDB
Experience with OpenTelemetry, DataDog or other tools to instrument, generate, and collect data
Able to work independently with minimum supervision
Able to communicate with candor and trust at multiple levels of the organization
Physical Requirements
General office environment, may sit for long periods of time
Note: This position is eligible for hybrid working arrangements and requires on-site work from an Insulet office at least three (3) days per week.
Additional Information The US base salary range for this full-time position is $137,250.00 - $205,875.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
