Level Designer role at WB Games / Avalanche
Avalanche, a Warner Bros. Games studio, is seeking a Level Designer to join our growing team of talented industry veterans in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will work closely with design leads to craft engaging and immersive environments that support the core gameplay, narrative, and pacing goals.
What part will you play?
Utilize UE5 Blueprint:
Build and iterate prototypes of gameplay mechanics, systems and features. Optimize prototypes for playability, performance, and fun. Debug and troubleshoot Blueprints.
Collaborate with design leads:
Translate ideas into functional prototypes and experiences.
Design and maintain levels and open-world areas:
Craft engaging and immersive environments that support the core gameplay, narrative, and pacing goals.
Implementing game content:
Setup enemies, populate gameplay elements, puzzles, and orchestrate events involving NPCs to enhance the player's experience.
Present and refine work:
Regularly showcase your work to leadership, incorporating feedback swiftly and effectively to improve the quality of the game.
Engage across disciplines:
Work closely with your level design team, as well as story, level art, technical design, animation, SFX, FX and programming teams, to ensure cohesive and polished game experiences.
Showcase and inspire:
Regularly review work with leadership, incorporating feedback swiftly and effectively to improve the quality of the game.
What do we need from you?
Professional experience as a Level Designer in game development. (Shipped title preferred)
Strong skills in Blueprint scripting for level design ingredients, gameplay mechanics, and interactive systems.
Demonstrated ability to rapidly prototype gameplay mechanics and iterate on them based on feedback.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance creativity with technical constraints.
Ability to collaborate with a design group and across other disciplines while maintaining a positive attitude.
Ability to take direction and feedback well.
A passion for gaming and game development.
Good to Have
Related undergraduate or graduate degree strongly preferred. (Art/Illustration/Architecture/Computer Science/etc.)
Basic knowledge of C++, C#, Python, etc.
