Works closely with Program Management and Business Development, acting as the technical lead for assigned projects. The project engineer is responsible for the technical execution and performance of assigned projects from concept through production. Based on customer requirements, the project engineer works to establish and maintain the technical baseline, to include system requirements, system architecture, and allocated baseline requirements. The project engineer collaborates with the PM and all other functional disciplines to help define the project’s schedule, including technical tasks (requirements analysis, design, integration, verification, production, etc.), milestones (PDR, CDR, FDR, etc.), and required resources/staffing to successfully execute the project. Throughout execution, the project engineer ensures compliance with corporate and systems engineering processes, coordinates activities across disciplines, oversees gate reviews, monitors and reports progress against the baseline schedule, and identifies and mitigates issues/risks to minimize impact on program execution. The candidate should be able to work independently and with others to direct the work of technical staff. Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

Manages overall technical execution of program Support engineering activities for proposal efforts Clearly defines/relays the program’s goals/objectives to technical staff and management Collaborates with Business Development on product features and functionality Aids in coordinating the activities of technical staff Acts as liaison between different engineering disciplines, manufacturing, program management personnel and the customer Identifies solutions for new and existing customers Takes a leading role in the preparation and presentation of clear and high-quality solutions Highlights the role of both technology and service delivery Estimate, plan, schedule, and execute systems engineering activities Perform hardware/software integration planning and oversee activities Perform system level test planning and oversee test implementation Oversees activities to establish and maintain technical baseline Leads analysis activities to define system requirements, architecture, and allocated baseline to subsystem/component levels Ensures the technical accuracy of specific design details in project areas Recognizes technical problems in other disciplines; initiates appropriate corrective actions Works with PM to ensure baseline meets customer needs and is within contract scope Manages systems configuration, system architecture and system design Ensures quality of material and maturity of system meets expectations Ensures design and analysis activities are performed against approved baseline Establishes program controls Maintains metrics to track performance of project Maintains project’s risk metrics and performs technical risk management activities Provides reports and briefings to management and customer regarding status of project Enforces change control through established CCB Responsible for quality of end product and verification against approved baseline Works with Program Team to create program schedule and WBS Establish milestones and deliverables (gates, technical reviews, CDRLs, etc); may tailor existing processes Define tasks required to accomplish milestones and deliverables Identify staffing required to accomplish tasks (resource loaded schedule with appropriate skillsets and SMEs identified) Monitor, mentor, and train less experienced systems engineers Oversees gate and design reviews for assigned project(s) Coordinates with stakeholders Coordinates closure of action items and closeout of gate review Interface with internal and external stakeholders including engineering, program management, quality, finance, business development, services, sub-contractors, end users and customers Participates in internal and external design reviews and status meetings Minimum Job Requirements

Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience. Demonstrated experience in the project engineering role performing requirements derivation/analysis and leading technical efforts to develop, test, and deliver systems which meet customer requirements. Experience developing system(s) through the systems engineering process. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to use personal computer software such as spreadsheets and word processing programs and requirement management database tool. Experience with PLM tools, such as ARAS, is highly desirable. Mental ability to perform engineering problem solving and analytical tasks. Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints. Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance Cubic Pay Range: $114,000-$260,000 The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
