Overview The General Manager II is a professional level sales and management position responsible for inspiring the team, helping customers succeed, and growing the business with integrity. The role supports functions on both sides of the business and requires understanding of store systems, automotive systems, parts knowledge, and the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and project assist for DIY. The position is exempt and requires a minimum of 50-55 hours per week (excluding meal breaks). The average schedule is 5-6 days a week, with 11 hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends, and a one-hour lunch. Additional hours may be required based on staffing, store conditions, sales to target, and other business demands.
Primary Responsibilities
Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives
Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including building and holding the team accountable to executing Customer action plans
Recruiting, selecting, developing, performance management, coaching, scheduling and engagement of store team members
Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
Coach team members to deliver on customer expectations (DIY and Professional)
Manager on duty responsibilities (touch base/coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, open/close duties)
Ability to lead change management
Embrace diversity and foster a respectful environment for both customers and team members
Secondary Responsibilities
Provide DIY service including battery installation, testing, wiper install, etc.
Assist District/Region in other functions upon request

Ability to review and analyze P&L statement
Ability to recruit, select, hire and develop quality team members
Ability to build and grow relationships with Professional Customers
Essential Job Skills Necessary for Success as a General Manager
Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers and upper management
Use Microsoft software effectively (Word, Excel required; PowerPoint preferred)
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent
Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as profit and loss statement (P&L)
Hold others accountable, inspect work quality and give feedback in a way that is inspiring
Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings and weekends as needed
2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 team members in a fast-paced retail environment
Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen
Education
High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in business or related area preferred
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a valid driver's license
ASE certification preferred, but not required
Physical Demands The duties require walking or standing; ability to talk and hear; hand and finger use; reach with arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment Typically inside the store, with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions when performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, chemicals, and noise levels are usually moderate.
Position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance.
Base salary will likely be between $54,000 and $68,000 plus Bonus. Actual salary will be determined by the hiring manager later in the process and is based on experience and qualifications.
Bonus Bonus is calculated on two metrics: 6% commission on every comp dollar (paid every 4 weeks) and 0.45% commission of every controllable profit dollar (paid quarterly).
Benefits Benefits: 1st Day of 401k Eligibility and Company Match (fully vested up to 4%). After 30 days: medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO, life, STD/LTD, pet insurance, and EAP. Will spend 1 week traveling for training.
Additional Notes The GM II leadership position requires a minimum 52–55 hour work week with one weekend off per month. A GM 2 store has a defined structure and staffing, and the GM is responsible for operational performance, policy adherence, training, and team accountability.
