Executive Director, Downstate Health Physicians SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University – Brooklyn, New York Downstate Health Physicians (DHP) is seeking an accomplished, visionary, and entrepreneurial Executive Director (ED) to lead its physician faculty practice at a pivotal moment in the institution’s history. New York State is investing more than $1 billion to modernize University Hospital at Downstate and construct a new outpatient annex, ushering in a new phase in this institution’s history. The ED will be a principal representative in the overall transformation of Downstate Health and will drive the strategic expansion of the clinical enterprise serving one of the nation’s most diverse urban communities. This is an opportunity to shape the future of healthcare delivery in Brooklyn while advancing the University’s academic mission. The Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for DHP and will collaborate with all components of the Health Sciences University—including University Hospital at Downstate, the College of Medicine, executive administration, the finance team, and DHP’s affiliated hospitals—to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to the Brooklyn community. DHP’s physicians work at University Hospital at Downstate, Brookdale Hospital, Maimonides Medical Center, and numerous community-based outpatient sites. Responsibilities

The ED will: manage practice care operations; develop and implement business plans and budgets; oversee communications and marketing; supervise senior staff; recruit, supervise, and develop DHP managers and staff in collaboration with department chairs; maximize staff resources alongside department and product line administrators; and oversee the day-to-day operations of DHP. The ED will manage DHP’s annual budget of approximately $50 million, in partnership with the medical school’s department chairs and other leadership, model and project results, and ensure faculty compensation aligns with SUNY policies. Qualifications and Experience

The next ED should have a proven record of executive leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus and foster collaboration across diverse constituencies. Preferred experience includes faculty practice management within an academic medical center or similarly complex health system, with expertise in finance, operations, strategic planning, and knowledge of managed care and contracting. Compensation

Compensation range for this role: $330,000 - $420,000. Application Process
