Overview

Executive Director, Downstate Health Physicians (DHP), the clinical faculty practice plan of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, is a leadership role to guide its physician faculty practice during a period of significant investment and renewal in Brooklyn. The ED will lead the strategic expansion of the clinical enterprise that serves one of the nations most diverse urban communities and help shape the future of healthcare delivery in Brooklyn, while advancing the Universitys academic mission. This position involves guiding a clinical enterprise at the intersection of community health and academic medicine during a time of unprecedented investment. The Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for DHP and will collaborate with SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University componentsincluding University Hospital at Downstate, the College of Medicine, executive administration, the finance team, and DHPs affiliated hospitalsto deliver high-quality, compassionate care to Brooklyn residents. DHP physicians work at University Hospital at Downstate and at other hospitals such as Brookdale and Maimonides Medical Center, as well as numerous community-based outpatient sites. Responsibilities

The ED will: oversee practice operations and care management, including developing and implementing business plans, finances, operations, communications, and marketing; supervise day-to-day operations and the senior staff, collaborate with department chairs to guide recruitment, supervision, and professional development of DHP managers and staff; work with department and product line administrators to maximize staff resources; manage DHPs annual budget of approximately $50 million in partnership with the medical schools department chairs and other leadership; model and project results and ensure faculty compensation aligns with SUNY policies; Qualifications and Experience

The next ED will bring a proven record of executive leadership and communication skills, the ability to build consensus, and the ability to foster collaboration across diverse constituencies. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in faculty practice management within an academic medical center or a similarly complex health system, with expertise in finance, operations, strategic planning, and knowledge of managed care and contracting. The compensation range for this role:
