ADI is seeking an experienced lawyer as the primary Legal & Risk Optimization Business Partner (LRO BP) and strategic advisor to ADI’s Software and Digital Platforms (SDP) business unit, Analog Garage, and Technology Strategy Board. This LRO BP role is based at ADI’s Corporate Headquarters in Wilmington, MA, reporting directly to the Regional General Counsel. The LRO BP will partner with the General Counsel, Head of Intellectual Property, and other LRO experts to address legal matters impacting these organizations and will work with business leadership to implement LRO strategies that support the organizations’ strategic and growth objectives. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as a key business partner to the designated organizations to identify and mitigate legal risk and provide legal and regulatory advice on issues including corporate transactions, intellectual property, licensing, research projects, university collaborations, AI collaboration hubs, commercial and procurement support, and employment matters. Provide actionable, risk-based advice to leadership that can be swiftly incorporated into decisions. Support contract negotiations with key customers and partners, with a focus on software, AI, and related research and development. Assist in negotiations with startups, academic labs, and innovation partners supporting ADI’s Emergent AI initiatives, including pilot contracts, proof-of-concept arrangements, and joint development agreements; help develop frameworks for joint IP creation, cross-licensing, and novel compute ownership models. Lead special projects and support continuous improvement of LRO department processes and knowledge management for the designated organizations. Provide interpretations of applicable laws and regulations to leadership and operating personnel; keep them apprised of actions requiring consideration and potential legal and risk issues. Keep the Regional General Counsel informed of strategy and ongoing legal, regulatory, and risk topics affecting the organizations. Craft and review legal strategy in response to litigation, in partnership with the Regional General Counsel and ADI’s Head of Dispute Resolution. Qualifications
Juris Doctor and license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. 10+ years of experience, ideally with a mix of in-house and top-tier law firm work. Significant experience in intellectual property law and evolving AI regulation across jurisdictions, and in negotiating and supporting technology and software licensing transactions. Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the organization and with internal and external clients. Experience in a fast-paced environment, advising executives in real time and providing pragmatic guidance. Ability to lead special projects and coordinate with attorneys and clients to achieve ADI goals. Strong analytical, prioritization, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management, and planning skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills and executive presence. Ability to travel, as needed, both in the US and internationally. High degree of systems proficiency, including AI productivity tools and MS Office.
