The Senior Network Architect (Key) tests and analyzes network infrastructure elements, oversees the integration of the enterprise network, and is accountable for planning, modeling, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the network. Responsibilities
Review and analyze the existing network architecture and provide designs for current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies Recommend best practices (e.g., SDN, intent-based networking, network segmentation) to improve architecture and meet requirements Provide comprehensive systems and network engineering and architectural planning services Identify needs for routers, switches, and encryption devices to support enterprise services Deliver service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations (Infrastructure-as-Code) Develop and maintain network architecture specifications and artifacts Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with cross-functional teams on Cloud-based capabilities for software development, modification, and deployment Interface with Operations & Maintenance personnel for strategic design and project support Regularly review and improve existing architectures; assist with design and implementation of improvements Support cybersecurity technology, risk identification, and mitigation strategies Engineer and upgrade LAN, WAN, and VoIP infrastructures; manage routers, switches, firewalls, and network management systems Support application delivery networking, Cloud computing, endpoint management, and desktop computing Collaborate with vendors, government, carriers, and staff on network implementation and optimization Provide high-level networking expertise on LAN/WAN hardware, switches, bridges, and routers Qualifications
TS/SCI level clearance is required Minimum 12 years with BS/BA; minimum 10 years with MS/MA CCDE certification and VMware VCP-NV certification required Minimum 10 years of Cisco experience with hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, UCS/UC) and related expertise Minimum 5 years with VMware; experience with virtual/physical networks and routing protocols Experience with DISN circuits and CANES Experience designing and troubleshooting LAN/WAN and low-bandwidth networks with network encrypters Experience with VMware NSX SDN Experience with Cisco hardening, NetFlow, SNMP, and network management solutions Experience with DevOps, automation, and scripting Experience with RMF and DoDAF 2.0 documentation standards and Change Management Certifications
