Overview
Base pay range: $147,430.00/yr - $280,000.00/yr. CVS Health, a leading health solutions company, hires for a principal data engineer role in Hartford, CT to build, develop, and maintain cloud-native software web applications and systems in support of CVS business needs and end customers. Telecommuting is available. Multiple positions. Responsibilities
Assist with cloud-native application development, web development, API integration and real-time scaling to meet internal users and end-customer needs. Participate in the full software lifecycle (development, testing, CI/CD, production operations). Develop large-scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, and standardize data to generate insights and support reporting needs. Write ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytics. Collaborate with the Data Science team to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes. Leverage knowledge of Hadoop architecture, HDFS, and query design/optimization to build data pipelines. Utilize programming skills in Python, Java, or similar languages to build robust data pipelines and dynamic systems. Build data marts and data models to support Data Science and other internal customers. Integrate data from multiple sources and ensure adherence to data quality and accessibility standards. Analyze current IT environments to identify critical capabilities and recommend solutions; advise on new tools to meet model/use case requirements. Mentor junior Cloud Engineers. Collaborate with UI/UX teams to develop wireframes and prototypes based on end-user feedback and human-centered design. Contribute to large-scale applications development, data science, or data analytics projects and support data management in healthcare contexts. Support large data, analytics, and technology modernization initiatives. Qualifications
Bachelors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Five (5) years of progressive, postbaccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Five (5) years of experience in each of the following areas: SDLC; CI/CD, Jenkins, GIT, or DevOps; Java, Python, or Node.js; XML, JSON, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript; Agile methodologies or SAFe; Angular/JavaScript/React/jQuery/Ajax/Bootstrap/Backbone; REST, SOAP, or Web Service APIs; Docker or Kubernetes; Hadoop and Hive; Spark, PySpark, or Scala; Airflow, Kafka, HBase, Pig, MySQL, or NoSQL; Unix/Linux/Shell scripting; developing backend services and code reviews; contributing to large-scale applications development and data science projects; designing data models and solutions for analytical/reporting use cases; big data implementation; developing data science products; designing data architectures for data pipelines and machine learning infrastructure; end-to-end data science lifecycle; product management in a large organization; UI/UX collaboration; healthcare data management and privacy considerations; and supporting large data/analytics modernization initiatives. Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work in a matrixed organization with internal partners. Pay and Benefits
This pay range represents base salary for the job grade; actual offers consider experience, education, geography, and other factors. Eligible for CVS Health bonus or incentive programs and equity awards.
