As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of the Google Compute Engine (GCE) Dynamic Resource Management roadmap. Collaborate with Product Management to define and prioritize roadmap features. Partner with Product Engineering teams to ensure successful implementation. Analyze performance metrics and identify opportunities for optimization. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in software development. Experience with compute systems internals like CPU and Memory architectures. Experience with Virtualization. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms. 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction. Experience with Linux Kernel Internals. Experience with Linux Memory Management. Experience with Data Analysis and C++ programming language.

Google Compute Engine (GCE) Node Team is responsible for delivering General Purpose Compute Virtual Machines (C-series, N-series, and E-series) and driving core technology investments necessary to do so. GCE is looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to drive the Dynamic Resource Management technology roadmap in support of our N-series and E-series GCE Virtual Machines (VMs). This area is core to our mission with opportunities to deliver business impact while continuing to develop and improve a novel Google technology. Dynamic Resource Management enables GCE to provide highly efficient compute for a large workload mix. US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Details about the specific salary range for your preferred location will be shared by your recruiter during the hiring process.
