The Director, Construction provides leadership to Operational, Program, and Project Managers responsible for all aspects of FTTX construction, permitting, splicing, and maintenance projects with multiple clients. Partners with the VP, Integrated Delivery Solutions, local management teams, and executive staff to ensure proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems to effectively grow the organization while maintaining financial strength and operating efficiency. The role requires a dynamic, energetic, and passionate leadership style. Key Responsibilities Oversee aspects of profit and loss for FTTX construction projects and related fiber splicing activities, including tests, troubleshooting, and repairs of fiber optic cables.

Drive sales, profitability, and achievement of business goals and objectives.

Plan, organize, and monitor overall program objectives for the department.

Maintain primary client contacts (owners and representatives) and manage contract terms, including timely change orders for out-of-scope items.

Monitor team performance using KPIs and metrics to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery and contracted quality.

Own program delivery from scope through closeout, including construction scope, financial metrics, PMO requirements, planning, scheduling, quality, safety, cost recovery, permits, and client satisfaction.

Motivate and lead a high-performance management team; set expectations, plan, monitor results, and coach staff.

Manage scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety changes; optimize use of internal resources and subcontractors.

Ensure timely invoicing and cost management per terms of work orders or agreements.

Review program production against scope and budget weekly; provide monthly project status reports to stakeholders.

Develop internal workforce capabilities for self-perform tasks and ensure proper training.

Collaborate on strategic growth planning; support bids and negotiations with Business Development for FTTX turnkey projects.

Maintain safety-focused culture and ensure project management discipline, policies, processes, and tools for world-class execution.

Interact with senior leadership to align operational priorities with company strategy.

Ensure accuracy of construction status reporting and financials; monitor quality control, QA, and OSHA compliance.

Lead process improvements and drive efficiency; participate in vendor negotiations for cost-effectiveness.

Oversee network design, estimating, and vendor selection; manage division costs and margins.

Support training, staffing, and safety compliance; ensure PMs are trained to Company standards.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Construction, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related field.

5+ years of experience in an operations management role; 3+ years in a leadership position.

Proven track record managing large projects or multiple projects; experience in EPC/engineering and/or construction with project profitability focus.

Experience with forecasting models, financial data interpretation, and budgeting.

Excellent verbal and written communication, with strong presentation skills.

Demonstrated leadership in directing and managing construction activities; ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and grow a business unit.

Strong knowledge of FTTX sector and capability to travel as needed.

Ability to read and analyze production and financial data; experience with complex forecasting and budgeting.

Prolonged sitting or standing; ability to lift up to 15 pounds; ability to pass DOT background checks.

Technical Skills Experience with databases and project management software; proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Ability to create complex forecasting models and budgets; familiarity with Site Tracker and similar tools.

10+ years of telecom construction experience preferred.
