Whitman, Requardt and Associates, LLP . We are currently seeking a senior level Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Practice in our Chesapeake/Virginia Beach, VA area. Our senior traffic engineers lead projects and teams working on adaptive signal systems, innovative intersections and interchanges, TSMO/ATMS, managed lanes, and complete street projects that improve mobility for all transportation modes. This role offers opportunities to grow project management skills within a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities

Lead a wide variety of analysis, modeling, design, and planning for multimodal transportation projects Manage assignments including traffic safety/operations studies; development or application of Synchro, SimTraffic, TransModeler, VISSIM, and VISUM models; and design of traffic control devices (signals, signing, markings, lighting) and work zone traffic control Work on projects ranging from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchanges and corridors, plus innovative multimodal transportation plans Occasional client-site work and travel as needed Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; Master’s degree preferred 16+ years of progressive experience in traffic and/or ITS engineering Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months Certified PTOE Experience with traffic guidelines (AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, Highway Safety Manual) Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD Experience with at least one of the following tools: HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic; TransModeler, VISSIM, VISUM; design of traffic control devices and work zone traffic control; ITS and CAV projects Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) Exceptional communication, technical writing, and organizational skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong time management for multiple projects Experience developing proposals and in project/contract management Experience working with VDOT preferred Benefits
