Overview
Construction Engineer Chicago Department of Water Management. You'll work on construction projects for our transportation and municipal clients. Prepare technical calculations and lead in the preparation and coordination of reports, plans, specifications, supporting documents and permit applications. Lead projects as a Resident Engineer, overseeing field staff and coordinating with contractors and clients. Prepare technical calculations and coordinate reports, plans, specifications, supporting documents and permit applications. Chair progress meetings and inspect workmanship for conformity to contract documents. Interface with clients, consultants, subconsultants, and vendors to maintain strong relationships and deliver superior client service. Support projects across the City of Chicago with the Chicago Department of Water Management and/or Chicago Department of Transportation (utilities installation, ADA ramp compliance, streetscape, resurfacing, etc.). Qualifications
Bacheloru2019s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. A professional license is preferred but not required if appropriate experience is demonstrated. IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification is required. Experience as a Resident Engineer, including staff management, working with contractors, and acting as the field contact for clients. Strong interpersonal skills, organization, leadership, and communication; ability to interface with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365. What Youu2019ll Do
Work on construction projects for transportation and municipal clients in Chicago; projects may include water/sewer main installation, pavement restoration, ADA ramp compliance, streetscape, and resurfacing. Lead in-progress meetings and perform construction inspection activities. Engage with clients, consultants, subconsultants, and vendors to build relationships and deliver excellent service.
