Project Management Engineer II – District Four / Transportation Development / Engineering Design / Engineering Group IV. This position will manage and perform engineering work for design projects. This position will also develop contract scopes of services and coordinate activities related to initiation, advertisement, and execution of contracts. The Difference You Will Make

District Four – Transportation Development 3400 West Commercial Blvd Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309 Your Specific Responsibilities

Manages and performs engineering work for design projects with general supervision. Signs and seals plans or documents as requested. Projects include rural highway capacity projects, interstate resurfacing projects, urban arterial resurfacing projects, bridge rehabilitation, bridge replacement, mobility projects (rail, park and ride lots). Coordinates phases of work between consultants and other disciplines to maintain schedules and projected production/mail dates. Develops contract scope of services and coordinates activities related to initiation, advertisement, and execution of contracts. Coordinates with discipline project managers for preparation of project-specific scope of services, staff hour estimates, consultant staff hour negotiations, contract execution and maintenance. Coordinates, reviews and approves invoices. Prepares, coordinates and negotiates Supplemental Agreements as required. Coordinates with the Professional Services Unit to ensure all contractual processing meets Department criteria. Attends meetings and field reviews; serves as liaison with public, federal, state, and local agencies, elected officials and private parties as required. Provides periodic reports to management concerning problems, delays, good points, etc. Coordinates review of work packages of consultants (e.g., Line & Grade submittals, Initial Plans Review, Final Plans Review, Structure Plans, Bridge Development Report, Bridge Hydraulic Recommendation, Pond Siting Report, Pavement Constructability). Advises and assists other FDOT project managers and local agency project managers; assists consultants with technical work (geometric design, traffic analysis, plans quantity calculations, cost analysis, pavement design, and overall plans preparation for major design projects). Prepares reports, exhibits, and presentations for project-related issues. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge Of Department Project Management policies and procedures. advanced engineering design concepts and principles. professional services and contractual procedures. the Department’s Plans Preparation Manual, Design Standards, Standard Specifications and Federal Highway Administration directives. Department’s production process for developing and delivering the Work Program. plan review techniques as they relate to roadway design. Skilled In engineering design related to transportation projects. reviewing and interpreting technical data. contract management. developing technical scope of services and staff hour estimates and negotiating staff hours. managing multiple priorities and making timely decisions to keep projects within budget and meet department requirements. working with the public, consultants, government officials and regulatory agencies to maintain effective working relationships. preparing and reviewing engineering reports. Ability To work independently and make decisions. establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. monitor and assess the performance of consultants. utilize engineering design skills to identify and resolve issues to meet product quality and schedule. build teams and get them focused on a common goal. define issues, facilitate meetings, organize presentations clearly to all levels (plain language). utilize a personal computer.
