Admitting Counselor

Under general supervision, the position is responsible for registering ER Patients, Inpatients, Outpatients, and Ancillary patients, compiling complete and accurate information for hospital records and timely reimbursement. Maintains effective patient flow and completes the admitting process in a timely manner to assist in prompt treatment of the patient. Maintains effective working relations with coworkers, nurses, physicians and other hospital staff members in order to insure workflow effectiveness. Greets and assists all customers and visitors, whether in person or by telephone, using guest relation techniques while professionally representing the visions and values of AHMC-WHMC. Responsibilities
Demonstrates courteous, polite, friendly and cooperative behaviors toward others. Supports and participates in activities that promote customer satisfaction. Utilizes approved hospital scripts. Courteously answers the telephone utilizing approved script (department, name and "may I help you"). Assists in answering call lights when on the nursing units (includes ancillary and non-patient care personnel). Answers call lights within 5 minutes (nursing personnel). Acknowledges patients/guests/others immediately upon entering the department/work area. Communicates and follows the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate. Courteously registers patients and completes the registration process with accuracy and timeliness. Inputs information into computer with accuracy and performs pre-admission and discharge procedures with accuracy and completeness. Maintains admit, ER discharge logs and documents patient information in appropriate logs with completeness and accuracy. Collects, logs and secures patient valuables following valuables procedure with accuracy. Performs patient financial responsibilities tasks, including estimating financial responsibility, making collection attempts when applicable, and posting receipts with accuracy. Collects monies from ancillary departments and posts payments with accuracy. Performs in-house transfer/discharge procedures accurately. Counts and verifies cash box at the required times with accuracy. Obtains required signatures and witnesses on consents; ensures forms are properly completed and addressographed. Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School Diploma. Minimum Experience: 1 year experience in hospital setting preferred. Required Certification/Registration: Current BCLS certificate required. Employment details
