We are seeking a highly experienced

Mainframe Security Consultant

to provide subject matter expertise and tactical execution within our client's vulnerability management initiatives. This role requires in-depth knowledge of z/OS security systems and associated tools to support system hardening, compliance, and vulnerability remediation efforts. The ideal candidate has a strong background in zSecure Audit, ACF2, TSS, and RACF, and can effectively communicate across engineering and security teams. REMOTE. Key Responsibilities

Provide hands-on execution and analytics support for security projects across mainframe platforms. Guide asset modeling, maintain project documentation, and ensure tactical deliverables are met. Serve as a subject matter expert in

Mainframe Security Systems

(ACF2, TSS, RACF), supporting vulnerability management and hardening efforts. Utilize

zSecure Audit

(7–10 years required) and STIG benchmarks to perform audits and enforce security standards. Interface directly with client staff, delivering training and handling daily inquiries related to internal vulnerability tools and other mainframe utilities. Support the development and enforcement of z/OS security standards, controls, and remediation strategies. Provide cross-functional communication between mainframe engineering and information security teams. Participate in security consulting efforts and, where applicable, penetration testing within the mainframe environment. Required Skills & Experience

10+ years of experience in

Mainframe Security

with ACF2 and/or TSS. Deep expertise with

z/OS , including

REXX ,

IBM Syncsort , and

ICETOOL

scripting/tools. 7–10 years of

zSecure Audit

experience. Demonstrated experience applying

z/OS STIG

for system hardening. Proven ability to execute security controls and support vulnerability remediation. Strong communication skills, including the ability to train and support end-users and document technical processes clearly. Consulting or penetration testing experience in mainframe environments is preferred. Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a security consulting role. Familiarity with home-grown or proprietary vulnerability management tools. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field, or equivalent experience (15+ years in Mainframe Security). Seniority level
