We are seeking a skilled and strategic Database Architect to design, develop, and optimize robust, scalable, and secure database systems to support our organization’s data needs. The Database Architect will define database architecture, ensure data integrity, performance, and security, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database solutions with business goals and application requirements. Responsibilities

Design and develop database architectures, including relational, NoSQL, and hybrid systems, to support business applications and data processing needs. Create and document data models, schemas, and database structures to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability. Collaborate with developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective database designs. Optimize database performance through indexing, partitioning, query optimization, and other tuning techniques. Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) through proper design and access controls. Evaluate and select database technologies based on project needs and organizational goals (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server). Design and implement data migration, backup, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data availability and resilience. Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reliability. Lead the integration of databases with applications, cloud platforms, and data warehouses or lakes. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to database administrators, developers, and other IT staff on best practices and standards. Stay current with emerging database technologies, trends, and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement. Create and maintain detailed documentation, including data models, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Experience

7+ years of experience in database design, administration, or development, with at least 3 years in a database architecture role. Proven experience designing and managing large-scale, high-performance database systems. Technical Skills

Expertise in relational database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB). Strong knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and normalization/denormalization techniques. Proficiency in SQL and query optimization for performance and scalability. Experience with cloud database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud Spanner). Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL processes, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Snowflake). Understanding of database security, encryption, and compliance requirements. Experience with backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies for databases. Knowledge of scripting or programming for automation (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell). Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex data challenges. Preferred Qualifications

Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or AWS Certified Database - Specialty. Experience with data lake architectures and big data frameworks. Background in designing databases for specific industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, e-commerce). Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for database automation and CI/CD integration. Life At Capgemini
