Position Summary
The Vice President, Manufacturing Operations will report to the SVP, Product Development and Manufacturing (PD&T) and will be responsible for leading the transition from a clinical-stage organization to an effective commercial manufacturing organization. The candidate will lead and develop a best-in-class manufacturing and supply chain team that can collaboratively work across functions to enable the commercial launch of our lead product into global markets. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams (quality, regulatory, commercial, and finance) and external contract service providers to ensure end-to-end supply chain readiness to meet global demand with a focus on continuous process improvement. Responsibilities
Lead the manufacturing and supply chain teams, delivering a high-performing organization aligned with Vera values. Contribute to strategic leadership of Veras late-stage programs as a strong team player. Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Product Development Teams representing Manufacturing and Product Development. Enable optimal production planning processes to balance supply and demand risks. Serve as a single point of contact to manage end-to-end global supply chain and develop supplier relationships to drive excellence using appropriate metrics. Strategically craft and manage commercial supply contracts with an eye toward lifecycle extension programs. Develop tools for end-to-end demand/supply planning and implement fit-for-purpose operational processes and systems to support supplier metrics and continuous improvement. Provide strategic direction, technical guidance, and long-range planning for late-stage programs from BLA-enabling studies through commercial launch and sustaining operations. Develop and manage department budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility for manufacturing operations. Qualifications
BA or BS in life sciences required with 15+ years of relevant experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Advanced degree in Life Sciences or Engineering preferred. 5+ years of senior-level line management experience leading other leaders. Proven track record of delivering business results and overseeing late-stage development programs in biotech or pharmaceutical settings. Deep technical, operational, regulatory, and quality expertise with experience in navigating regulatory requirements, including authoring and reviewing BLAs and interactions with regulatory authorities. Solid understanding of drug development within the biopharmaceutical industry; experience in monoclonal antibodies or related fields preferred. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to influence across a virtual/outsourced environment. Strong communication skills (oral and written) tailored to the audience; detail-oriented with the ability to balance hands-on work and strategic thinking. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and nurture, train, and grow the manufacturing organization. Compensation and Benefits
For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $319,000 - $355,000. The exact base pay offered will depend on factors including geography, qualifications, skills, and experience. Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include an annual performance-based bonus, new hire equity, ongoing performance-based equity, and benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k match, flexible time off, and paid holidays.
