Overview

Lead Engineer, Distribution Engineering (Hybrid) at Eversource Energy. The role focuses on development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the transmission/distribution system to meet the organization’s mission and objectives. The position collaborates on evaluating system failures, providing resolutions to support operations during unplanned maintenance, and ensuring high-quality design standards for a safe, reliable, competitively priced, and environmentally sound electric service. It shares accountability with peers in the Life Cycle Plan and supervises, assigns, prioritizes and directs the work of other Engineers and staff. Distribution Engineering is responsible for strategic development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation to provide reliable service, with modernization initiatives and integration of renewable energy resources. The group works to prevent, evaluate and resolve system failures. Essential Functions

Supervises, coaches, and develops engineers; approves time and conducts performance reviews. Assigns, prioritizes and directs work for at least 2 FTE Engineers or 1 FTE Engineer and 1 FTE Designer. Responsible for the cost and performance of certain assets on the system, including reliability analysis and monitoring of equipment condition. Develops, justifies and approves Life Cycle Plan activities over a multi-year horizon and for ongoing projects. Ensures design and specification of additions, modifications and replacements to transmission and distribution systems are completed accurately and on time, including preparation of system electrical permits and customer notifications. Develops preliminary engineering designs and the details as necessary. Collaborates with other Engineers to ensure consistency and teamwork. Provides technical support and direction to operating areas regarding system priorities, engineering guidelines and operating decisions during normal and emergency situations. Accountable for root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions. Evaluates and selects technology and equipment for the system. Develops standards and procedures for design, operation and maintenance. Assumes the role of the Manager as required. Assists with storm duty and other major events as needed. Technical Knowledge / Education / Experience

Knowledge of utility power systems is preferred. Ability to independently develop, present and execute new projects via collaboration with other departments. Familiarity with power-related software is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required. Minimum of eight to ten years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry. Supervisory experience preferred. Working Conditions

Must be available for emergency restoration assignments as required. Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary. Work is primarily in an office environment; travel to operating districts and companies within and outside the state may be required. Occasional to significant travel by car may be required. A valid driver’s license is required. Problem Solving & Complexity

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. Salary is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range is $141,440.00-$157,150.00. Worker Type
