Overview
Quality Engineer, Energy Storage role at Redwood Materials We’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have. Responsibilities
Develop and implement in-line quality control plans, incoming inspection criteria, and outgoing validation protocols at contract manufacturing sites Lead root cause analysis and implement containment, corrective, and preventative actions for field returns, yield issues, and customer complaints Build dashboards to track KPIs including DPPM, RMA rates, test yield, and audit performance Drive process capability improvements through SPC, GR&R studies, and statistical analysis Define product-level test plans and collaborate with test engineering to ensure robust coverage of functional and safety requirements Participate in Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and provide quality input during design reviews and manufacturing process changes Support audits (internal, supplier, third-party), regulatory compliance, and documentation per ISO9001, UL, or other applicable standards Qualifications
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering 3+ years of experience in a hardware manufacturing quality role, ideally with PCBA and HV experience Proficiency with 8D, PFMEA, control plans, and ISO standards Experience with MES systems, quality inspection tools, and data analytics (JMP, Minitab, SQL, or Python) Strong ownership mindset, problem-solving ability, and communication skills Physical Requirements
Ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with applicable standards Working Conditions
Office or outdoor environment Ability to work in challenging conditions with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE Essential physical requirements such as climbing, standing, stooping, or typing Occasional weekends, nights, or on-call as part of the job Occasional travel California Pay Range: $136,000—$184,000 USD. The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
