Position focuses on directing, scheduling and controlling all plant engineering/maintenance functions to obtain optimum efficiencies from equipment, utilities and facilities. Safe, efficient, and accurate performance is expected to maintain and improve the plant in Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and the Customer 1st strategy. What you’ll do
Direct, schedule and control all plant engineering/maintenance functions to optimize equipment, utilities and facility performance.
Lead the maintenance and engineering teams, ensuring safe operations and adherence to SQR goals.
Develop and manage capital projects, budgets and related documentation; lead energy management and efficiency initiatives.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and food safety principles; support SQF 2000 systems.
Collaborate with external agencies (OSHA, EPA, FDA) to maintain compliance.
Desired Previous Job Experience / Education
Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering
6+ years of experience in the food industry dealing with capital project development and management, preventative maintenance administration, maintenance workforce management, budget responsibility and federal regulations/requirements
Minimum Position Qualifications / Education
Bachelors degree in engineering or related field with relevant experience
5+ years of technical experience in the food industry
Knowledge of Food Safety Principles, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), EPA and OSHA requirements
Strong attention to detail, with high degree of accuracy and precision
Strong analytical and strategic thinking ability
Proven leadership skills
Ability to foster positive working relationships with key stakeholders
Essential Job Functions
Provide engineering guidance and leadership at the plant level
Supervise and coach direct reports; conduct performance reviews and provide feedback
Lead the development and implementation of the plant/business unit 3-year capital plan
Oversee equipment/processing system modifications and replacements
Remain up-to-date on technology related to plant operations
Develop, implement and control approved budgets
Maintain engineering records (equipment records, manuals, drawings, inspection reports, legal records)
Drive the integrated maintenance process, including predictive/preventative maintenance and parts inventory
Lead the assessment and development of maintenance and engineering staff
Lead energy management and efficiency initiatives aligned with goals
Coordinate with OSHA, EPA, FDA to ensure regulatory compliance
Ensure safe, quality foods meeting regulatory and company requirements
Support SQF 2000 system development and improvement
Be accountable to Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles
