Associate Attorney - Commercial Litigation
Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney for its commercial litigation group in our Chicago office. The primary focus will be on commercial litigation (contract disputes, fraud, statutory violations, and business torts), intellectual property litigation, product liability, professional liability, life sciences, employment law, and technology and cybersecurity matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing case files, legal research, preparing legal documents, investigating facts, and attending hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials. This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys looking to hone their litigation skills and take responsibility for the day-to-day management of an assigned case load while still being afforded the benefit of working in a team environment and receiving training and mentorship from partners with deep experience in these practice areas. Responsibilities
Manage case files, legal research, prepare legal documents, investigate facts, and attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials. Take day-to-day ownership of an assigned case load with supervision from partners.
Qualifications
Current, active license to practice law in Illinois. Dual licensure in any jurisdiction desirable; Minimum of 2 years’ experience in civil litigation including drafting pleadings, written discovery; motions and other related litigation documents; performing legal research; taking and defending depositions; reporting to clients and/or insurance carriers; and other facets of the litigation process; Prior commercial litigation experience required; Excellent legal research, writing and advocacy skills; Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines; Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues and produce top quality work; A willingness to be proactive and take ownership of projects and assignments; Experience in federal court and handling mediations/arbitrations desirable.
