Overview
Position: Activity Director. The Activity Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and supervising a comprehensive activity program that meets the physical, mental, emotional, and psychosocial needs of all residents. This role requires creativity, compassion, strong organizational skills, and a genuine passion for enhancing quality of life in a long-term care setting. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and direct activity programs that encourage resident participation and meet individual needs and interests. Develop monthly activity calendars and maintain accurate documentation of programs and resident participation. Coordinate special events, outings, and intergenerational programs. Work collaboratively with nursing, dietary, and other facility departments to integrate activities into residents’ daily routines. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including documentation requirements. Train, supervise, and schedule activity assistants and volunteers. Maintain activity supplies and budget. Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and community partners. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in recreational therapy, social work, or related field preferred. Certified Activity Director (or eligible) preferred; will consider experience in lieu of certification with commitment to obtain. Prior experience in activities programming within a long-term care or healthcare environment strongly preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Benefits
