Roche’s CS-CoE and DDC organizations enable data-driven science to accelerate decision-making. The Solutions team builds data pipelines and applications to accelerate work by computational and bench scientists and enable ML/AI-driven work. Responsibilities
Lead the development of the UX design strategy and vision, ensuring alignment with product goals and business priorities. Serve as the primary UX expert and evangelist in the group, educating team members and driving adoption of UX best practices across the portfolio. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design cohesive solutions from ideation to implementation, aligning user needs with business goals. Provide mentorship and leadership to a team of UX designers, fostering growth and maintaining high design standards. Lead the initial design and continuous improvement of a scalable design system to ensure a consistent scientific user experience across products. Work with UI engineers to refine design processes and improve efficiency. Lead user research, usability testing, and gather insights to inform design decisions; advocate for the user throughout the design process. Organize, maintain, and evolve UX design artifacts (UI elements, documentation, and guidelines) for consistency and scalability across applications. Ensure inclusive design practices and accessibility standards (WCAG) across products. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field, with 12+ years of UX design experience, or advanced degree with 10+ years of experience. Proven experience designing impactful products addressing complex user needs and business goals. Experience managing, mentoring, and leading a team of designers. Expertise in full UX design process: user research, wireframing, prototyping, interaction design, and usability testing. Strong proficiency with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD; knowledge of CSS frameworks (e.g. Tailwind CSS). Exceptional communication skills for presenting ideas to executives, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. Ability to drive innovation and stay current with design trends and best practices. Experience with leading UX research and AI-driven features is a plus. Additional Information
Onsite presence on the South San Francisco campus is expected for at least 3 days a week. Relocation benefits are available. Salary range for California: $165,100 - $306,700.
