The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview:
The Patient Access Representative will be responsible for verifying patient insurance, collecting co-pays, explaining hospital policies, and answering patient questions about registration. Qualifications: Required: High School diploma or GED Preferred: Prior experience with hospital Patient Access/Registration and EPIC Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance Certifications and Licenses Required: N/A Scheduling Requirements: Two 8 hour shifts per week and one 4 hour shift per week Week 1 - Monday 9am-5:30pm, Tuesday 9am-1pm, Saturday 9am-5:30pm Week 2 - Sunday 9am-5:30pm, Monday 9am-1pm, Friday 9am-5:30pm Weekend and Holiday rotation Part Time, 20 hours per week Essential Functions: Accurately collect and enter patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record EHR system Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage Explain registration forms, policies, and procedures to patients in a clear and empathetic manner Collect co-pays and other payments at the time of services and assist with billing inquiries Answer patient inquiries regarding registration, billing, and other healthcare-related matters Visits patients bedside to accurately collect patient demographic and insurance information Works work queues in the EHR to follow up on required patient information and documents Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a positive patient experience Obtain necessary signatures and resolve demographic and insurance edits Provide patient estimates on potential financial responsibilities and collect payments Other Duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
