role at

CrowdStrike .

As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission-driven company. We cultivate a culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.

About The Role

Our mission is to make all of our customers’ security-relevant data continuously available for automated detection and response, threat hunting, and other Falcon use cases. To enable this, the systems behind NG-SIEM are growing to accommodate >100 PB of event and action data ingested every day, up to 10 years of retention, and dozens of millions of queries per hour across large sections of the data stored. As a new Senior Engineer I on the LogScale Search team you will be responsible for delivering this scale to customers by developing new features as well as improving existing functionality. You will be joining a distributed team of highly collaborative engineers who share a strong passion for the product. In this role you will get a chance to work on hard engineering problems that do not have well-defined solutions, and drive high-impact projects to completion. You will drive the company’s vision of a fast, reliable and best-in-class log storage solution.

Teams in LogScale have a great amount of autonomy, and own a part of the LogScale experience, from ideation and development to deployment and feedback. This includes ensuring high quality of the features they deliver, by writing automated tests, and performing manual tests. Moreover, we do not just throw over features to our operations teams, but we constantly observe and monitor new features in production, with LogScale dashboards of course. An important part of our work is making sure that LogScale continues to be scalable in terms of efficiently ingesting and digesting events, querying for the right data, while also ensuring the stability of the clusters.

What You’ll Do

Work in a team of friendly, trustworthy and knowledgeable colleagues supporting each other through code reviews, pairing, documentation, design reviews and technical guidance

Lead by example on customer and product focus, as well as on hands-on operational excellence by monitoring and following up on features released to customers and troubleshooting critical customer issues

Deliver cross-team platform-level initiatives and projects by owning or participating in scoping, designing and developing of new features to open-ended problems

Develop the LogScale backend in Scala and extending our product to keep LogScale scale with increasing ingest and query load while ensuring high availability

Collaborate with peers across teams on defining and delivering new solutions, design documents, technical talks and improving internal documentation

We are a remote first company so you must bring your excellent verbal and written communication skills to bear when you are working with teams across the globe

What You’ll Need

A passion for or personal interest in distributed systems and curiosity of how our running systems are doing

6+ years experience in software development in general and the ability to juggle making pragmatic tradeoffs between short-time delivery needs vs long-term product goals

Experience in contributing to broad technical leadership in products or services

A can-do attitude, and that you thrive collaborating in a team and are not afraid of taking on responsibilities
